September 26, 2001

This week as I was contemplating recent events and asking the Lord for His insight and strategy for mobilizing His church in the most appropriate manner, I was reminded of a true story involving a friend of ours from Missouri. This friend owns over 100 acres of land outside of Kansas City.

One afternoon as he was riding in his truck surveying his land, he noticed a vehicle at the other end of a dirt road. His first inclination was to conclude that they were dumping trash on his land, as had been done in the past. However, upon closer observation he could clearly see that two men were standing behind another man who was on his knees with his hands tied behind his back.

My friend had stumbled upon a drug deal gone bad. The two men were preparing to execute the young man on his knees and had actually put the gun to his head about to pull the trigger. Our friend didn’t know what to do, so he did the only thing that came to mind. He took the small caliber pistol that he had with him…rolled down the window in his truck…stuck his head and shoulders out the window and began speeding toward the men as fast as his truck would go…screaming to the top of his lungs.

I suppose the executioners were quite startled at this sight and immediately fled, leaving the young man badly beaten and bleeding, but still alive. Our friend could readily see the young man needed immediate medical attention so he loaded him into his truck and proceeded to the emergency room.

While in route to the hospital, my friend asked the young man the all important question, “ARE YOU A PRAYING MAN?” Looking up with a bloody face the answer came, “I WAS IN THE TRUNK OF THAT CAR!” I bet he was. Whatever he prayed, it must have been a good one for the Lord to send someone willing to chance injury himself for the sake of a stranger.

I have often wondered what kind of deals he was willing to make with the Lord as he contemplated his fate while riding to the place of his execution in the trunk of that car. I’ve also speculated what subsequently may have transpired with this young man and if he remained faithful to his promise.

A crisis will drive us to prayer in a way nothing else will, but we must remain faithful in our prayer even after the emotion of the crisis has passed.

The Lord is continuing to stress to us the great need for prayer in this hour. The events of September 11, have awakened us to a variety of things. Foremost among them, our great need for unified prayer that is SUSTAINED until the battle is complete and victory is secured. Now more than ever, we are convinced this is a spiritual battle that must be won in the realm of the Spirit with divinely powerful weapons provided for us by the Holy Spirit.

Like Moses, the church must arise in power to stand in the gap on behalf of our nation. All the world sees the natural battle, but the church must see the unseen and recognize the true arena in which this struggle is won or lost. Like the presidential election of 2000, we are facing two diametrically opposing paths for our nation. The ultimate determination will be made by the church and her willingness to join the Lord’s intercession for the path of righteousness. Our trust and confidence cannot be placed in our government, military strength or economic fervor, only in the Lord and his grace toward us.

According to the admonition given to us immediately following the terrorist attack, we are continuing to examine past prophetic words in light of the events of September 11. As we will closely examined the article entitled “The Lords Heart For Intercession,” we noticed the last portion of the article stating that an assembly line of workers were seen in the vision passing the buckets to extinguish the fires, denoting our need for unified intercessory prayer. While watching the news broadcasts, they literally reported a human “bucket brigade” was formed at the World Trade Center in the aftermath of the destruction and fires.

This was a natural confirmation of the spiritual reality the Lord is desiring from his people. It is in the linking together of our hearts in unified prayer that great power emerges to quench the spiritual “fires” created by our enemy. Further, in a united voice of prayer, a wave of power is released to push back the dark forces continually releasing fear, intimidation, and confusion.

Another article released in 1998 has considerable insight related to the events of recent days. In it, the Holy Spirit revealed His desire to remove from our hearts the dependence we have placed upon the sufficiency of man and replace it with a complete trust in the Lord and His cross. Even within the church, we can sometimes allow our confidence to be placed inappropriately in the strength of man, usurping a position in our hearts that rightfully belongs to the Lord. This is especially true when living under a canopy of great grace as seen in our nation for the last number of years.

Thus says the LORD, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart turns away from the LORD. For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when prosperity comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose trust is the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit. The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?

I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds. (Jer 17:5-10)

In this vision, Bob was shown something that would destroy the memorials erected to man’s great accomplishments that would immediately be replaced by the revelation of the cross. This would be the greatest blessing of all.

The Holy Spirit revealed an image similar to the Iwo Jima Memorial but displaying the cross instead of an American flag being supported by 12 humble solders. The Lord loves this nation and desires to bless us and send an awakening and renewal to our country. Even so, it must be according to His prescribed manner birthed in prayer and truth. We ARE blessed when our trust is fully in Him.

This is a portion of that article—These twelve humble soldiers represented the coming government of God that will lift up the Cross above all else bringing to the church the glorious reality and power of the redemption purchased on the Cross. There is coming to the church through God’s government the preaching and teaching of the Cross on a level not yet seen in this generation. The church has scarcely even touched the great redemption truths of the Cross that will prepare the Bride in perfection and Union with Christ. As in all wars, Liberty and Freedom comes with a price. These realities will be imparted to those willing to pay the price and allow the pruning of the Holy Spirit that we may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.

The primary responsibility of the apostles and prophets will be to securely fashion the foundation of the Cross in the hearts of the people through the demonstration of the Spirit and Power. This can only be done through the tools provided by the Holy Spirit. We are given the blueprint for this purpose through Psalms 27 imparting the reality of intimate relationship…Seeking and desiring one thing. That we may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives that we may gaze upon His beauty and inquire in His temple.

Neither retreat nor deceleration is an option. As we accelerate toward the Lord, despite the obstacles, He will sovereignly, through great grace, see us through and place us on His Highway.

We are presently entering the dawning of a new day in which true Apostolic ministry will become apparent. It will have all the qualities of the Apostolic church depicted in the Book of Acts and in greater measure. It will be the former and latter rain together preparing for the great harvest.

In a prophetic experience, the Lord illustrated this truth and stated very forcefully to me that Samuel is a type of this Apostolic leadership. In it the Holy Spirit said, “ the Lord did let none of his words fall to the ground nor did he beg his bread from the people.”

We must likewise be so intimate with the Lord that we say nothing in His name but what we have received by “a revelation of Jesus Christ”. (Gal. 1.12) Samuel did not speak in the name of the Lord presumptuously nor carelessly. Therefore, the Lord was able to perfectly support the words he spoke to the people in the Name of the Lord.

One of the most notable attributes in the life of Samuel is his determination not to abuse his position and privileges before God and the people. There was not one person in all of Israel who could bear witness against Samuel for pleading for money, possessions or property. Neither did he allow the spirit of this world to affect his ability to judge the people in righteousness and equity. The apostolic leadership soon to emerge should likewise be characterized by humility and genuine love for the people.

The enemy will do all in his power to attempt to keep this from becoming reality. That is another reason why this is a spiritual confrontation requiring us to engage our enemy in the battlefield of the spirit. If we will sustain our resolve, repentance and commitment to prayer, the Lord will take the devastation of Sept. 11 and turn it to good.

Our enemy is trying fervently to inject poor counsel to the President that would weaken our nations commitment and resolve to stand with Israel. Again, this points to the spiritual battle that rages against the Christian church and Israel. Our continued and steadfast prayer must continue to be that our national leadership and church body stand firmly with Israel in every respect.

Wanda heard an audible voice in May, saying, we “must go back to 1941!” As in 1941 the enemies of Israel have now become our national adversaries and we now have a unified voice in our nation calling for the destruction of the terrorist machine that has plagued Israel for years. That is the same effect the bombing of Pearl Harbor had in that notable year.

One interesting point about the bombing of Pearl Harbor is that it revealed the need for a “unification of U.S. armed forces” with mutual exchange of information and resources. This will bring the church together in unity like nothing else we have faced if we will allow the Holy Spirit to have His way.

Palestine: He (Lake) was made conscious of the enmity between the Jews and the Arabs. The Angel said, “The Kingdom must first be in the hearts of men.”

“To my amazement, on approaching the building, high in the atmosphere a half a mile or more, I discerned millions of demons, organized as a modern army. There were those who apparently acted as shock troops. They would charge with ferocity, followed by a wave, and yet another wave, and yet another wave. After a little while I observed there operated a restraining influence that constituted a barrier through which they could not force themselves. With all the ingenuity of humans at war, this multitude of demons seemed to endeavor to break the barrier or to go further, but were utterly restrained. In amazement, I said to the Angel, ‘What does it mean?’ He said to me, ‘Such is the care of God for those that strive in unselfishness for His best.'”

He discerned the heart of the Angel was overburdened. In answer to this the Angel said, “Human selfishness and human pride have consumed and dissipated the very glory and heavenly power that God once gave from heaven to this movement as you have beheld tonight.”

We were now at the foot of the pathway again. He took a step or two away, and in a sort of despair my heart cried out, “Angel, these are all struggling for want of an ideal. What constitutes real Pentecost? What ideal should be held before the minds of men as the will of God exhibited through a movement like this?”

During all this time I had carried my Bible in my hand. Reaching for the Bible, he opened to the book of Acts, ran his finger down over the second page, that portion where the Spirit of God came down from heaven. Proceeding through the Book of Acts to its great outstanding revelations and phenomena, he said, “This is Pentecost as God gave it through the heart of Jesus. STRIVE FOR THIS. CONTEND FOR THIS. TEACH THE PEOPLE TO PRAY FOR THIS. For this, and this alone, will meet the necessity of the human heart, and this alone will have the power to overcome the forces of darkness.”

When the Angel was departing he said, “Pray. Pray. Pray. Teach the people to pray. Prayer and prayer alone, much prayer, persistent prayer, is the door of entrance into the heart of God.”

Blessings of Grace and Peace,

Pray that our president and his staff make the right decisions in response to the terrorist attack. Ask the Holy Spirit to send divine wisdom to him in this ultimate decision. Continually offer prayers and intercession on behalf of our president…releasing the Spirit of grace and favor upon his life and administration. Pray that all ungodly counsel be uprooted and dispelled from the President’s decision making process.

Pray the Holy Spirit will supernaturally reveal the parties responsible for the planning and execution of the terrorist attack. Pray the terrorist headquarters and bases be exposed and ask the Lord to release the Angels of heaven to assist us in this endeavor. Furthermore, pray that the spirit behind the hatred and violence toward Israel and America be exposed and nullified… Continually asking the Lord for an impartation of divine love for Israel and complete support for her and her citizens.

Pray for the continued repentance and intercession on the part of our nation and its leaders, both in the civil government and in the church. Continue to ask the Lord for the Spirit of renewal and revival.

Pray for the promise of restoration. The Lord has promised to restore all that the enemy has stolen and restore it in multiplied fashion. This is a time of restoration and recovery for the things the enemy has stolen, naturally and spiritually.

Pray for the grace to be released to the families and friends of those lost in the attack and restoration of peace, prosperity and well-being.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would expose the hidden works of darkness and bring them into light.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would not allow us to enter into a national war prematurely that would not have His blessings although there must be a clear response on the part of our nation to deter future terrorism.
