Restoring Desolate Heritages
By Paul Keith Davis

This past June I had the privilege of preaching a Sunday morning service in the Church located on the old Alexander Dowie homestead. It was quite invigorating to recount the many historical events that transpired in Zion, Illinois at the turn of the 20th century. There remains a well of healing and a forerunner anointing to catapult us into the fullness of our destiny for this generation. That was the essence of the message I shared that morning.

Being on the Dowie property brought back many revelations the Lord shared with me in 1996. He instructed me about the importance of this man’s ministry in relationship to our present calling. Although there was an unfortunate proclamation made at the end of Dowie’s life, he remains a pivotal figure used mightily by the Holy Spirit to introduce an entire generation to Jesus Christ as Savior and Healer. He, more than any other figure, helped pave the way for the many healing ministries that emerged during the 20th century outpourings.

A Wonderful Confirmation

In the summer of 1996 I had several dreams and revelations involving Alexander Dowie. Unfortunately, at that time, I had only limited resources involving this man’s life and ministry. At the end of that week, Wanda and I flew with Rick Joyner in his private plane to Charlotte for a conference Rick was hosting. When we arrived at their facility, I passed Steve Thomson’s office and saw a book lying on the corner of his desk written by Gordon Lindsay on the life of Alexander Dowie.

I told Steve that I was actually looking for that book because of revelations the Lord had given me that week concerning Dowie. Steve informed me that during the morning the Holy Spirit spoke to him concerning this book and he brought it to his office and set it on his desk moments before my arrival. I felt this was a confirmation of the importance of understanding this heritage that can be brought forward into our day.

Following the conference, Rick flew us back to Alabama and I took the opportunity on the flight to browse through the book. With the book open in my lap, I noticed a picture in it of a human clock set for the nine o’clock hour. It was taken from an elevated position where hundreds of their followers positioned themselves like a clock with the hour pointing to 9:00 o’clock, as a reminder of their call to an hour of prayer at that time.

At the moment I saw this picture in the book, I peered out the co-pilot seat of the plane and noticed a farmer’s field of about 160 acres that had been uniquely cultivated and fashioned as a clock with each of the twelve hours of the clock highlighted. I am not even certain which State we were over but the odds of such a thing were incredible while looking at a picture taken in 1900 of the exact image.

I knew this was God’s additional confirmation concerning something important we are to capture from Dowie’s ministry.

Discovering Jesus the Healer

One of the most important revelations given to this man came at a time of great desperation. While pastoring a small church outside Sydney, Australia, a horrible plague broke out in the region. People were dying by the scores with Dowie performing over 40 funerals among his own congregation.

Finally, late one evening in complete exhaustion and desperation he turned to the Lord for an answer to this excruciating dilemma. Dowie wrote of this encounter saying:

“I sat with sorrow-bowed head for my afflicted people, until the bitter tears came to relieve my burning heart. Then I prayed for some message, and oh, how I longed to hear some words from Him Who wept and sorrowed for the sufferings long ago, a Man of Sorrows and of Sympathies. Then the Words of the Holy Ghost inspired in Acts 10:38 stood before me all radiant with light, revealing Satan as the defiler and Christ as the Healer. My tears were wiped away, my heart was strong, I saw the way of healing and the door thereto was opened wide.”

Acts 10:38 declares, “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

At the moment he read this passage a supernatural revelation was imparted to his soul. Although he had read this verse numerous times before, this time he read it with Spirit eyes that brought it to life. He recognized that the devil was the author of sickness and oppression while Jesus is the Healer — Jesus went about doing good and healing all who are oppressed of the devil.

Disdain for Sickness

That revelation created hatred in Dowie’s soul for sickness and oppression. No sooner had that revelation settled in when a knock came at the door requesting his presence, because another young lady stood on the brink of death from the plague.

Dowie recorded in his periodical “Leaves of Healing” how he bolted from the house without overcoat or hat, running to the bedside of this young lady, but this time with supernatural faith for her deliverance. The young lady was writhing and grinding her teeth in agony when Dowie arrived. Although the doctor present gave no hope for her survival, Dowie rebuked that report and commanded the illness to leave the woman.

He did not merely pray a wishful thinking prayer but had the revelation in his heart that it was the devil who was tormenting this young lady and that the Lord desired to heal her. Instantly the young lady fell into a deep sleep. Many present felt she had died but Dowie assured them she was healed. Later she rose from her sleep and ate a full meal. From that day forward, not another one of Dowie’s congregation died from the epidemic.

This revelation, born out of desperation, launched one of the greatest healing ministries of the late 19th and early 20th century church. Alexander Dowie went on to establish numerous houses of healing, founded the city of Zion IL and prophesied many technological advancements such as the development of television and radio. Numerous notable leaders of the early 20th century emerged from Dowies ministry and mentorship.

This is the desolate heritage that is to be restored in this day as we press in to the Lord as both Savior and Healer during the harvest age.

You must seek all of His heart,
All of His mind, All of His Spirit
By Martha Canizales

(The following article was written by Martha Caizales, one of our young adults on staff with WhiteDove Ministries. I read her article like a proud father. I was immensely encouraged by the revelation entrusted to her and her desire to know the Lord fully. I pray you will be equally as encouraged… Paul Keith Davis)

Neville Johnson recently spoke at the WhiteDove Ministries “Preparing for Harvest” conference in May about the passing of His daughter, who was my age when she gave up her life as seed for the harvest. He challenged every young person to make a decision to be a son of the Kingdom and sign up for the Lord’s end time army. I was moved to not let all the seeds of those that have given up their lives for the gospel go to waste. There is a special grace being released to those that are determined; those that are hungry. God is offering that special relationship. He is inviting us as sons of the Kingdom to walk with Him like Enoch did. I aspire to be one that accepts this honorable invitation.

About a week after the conference The Lord gave me a dream. In the dream I was in an old style drama theater. There were young people preparing for an outreach in that particular community. I was standing in the very front, just below the stage, facing the audience. I had a clear view of Neville Johnson and his daughter. To my surprise Neville’s daughter had a new born baby in her arms. In my dream, I knew it was the daughter that had passed away.

Another thing that I was a little surprised by was that his daughter had medium brown hair; I was surprised at this simply because Neville has sandy blondish hair. My ears were in tune with what they were saying even if they were in the middle of the drama theater. And his daughter kept kissing his cheek and saying “you’re my hero” several times. Just then a young guy came up to Neville and was somehow trying to impress him saying “you got to seek Him with all of your heart, with all of your mind and with all of your soul.” (Scripture says “Love” versus “seek” in this particular passage found in several places Mt 22:37)

Neville turned to him and responded as he and his daughter stood up and began to walk towards the front where I was standing and watching. There was a door to the right of where I was standing. And he said “no it’s not like that, you see, you must first seek all of HIS heart, all of HIS mind, and all of His Spirit. And if you do this,” he paused for just a second and turned his eyes to me and peered into my eyes with intensity and with seriousness and authority and said, “It will BLOW your MIND away!” according to 1 Corinthians 2:9-11:

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. But God has revealed it to us by His spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God”

As soon as the last word left his mouth my mind was struck by the unseen force of wisdom and understanding. It was so shocking and overwhelming that I held my head and crouched into a fetal position, even grinding my teeth. In that moment I had some understanding that we must stop trying to seek God from within our own soulish ways, without faith in who He IS and start seeking what is inside of Him; which is the Spirit of Truth, placing the attention and focus on Him.

We must seek all of His heart (His Love, His Grace, His Compassion, The purposes of His heart), all of His mind (His perception, His wisdom, His knowledge, His plans), and all of His Spirit. (Read 1 Corinthians chapter 2 Wisdom from the spirit)

Hebrews 11:5-6 declares:

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away, for before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek HIM.

When we do this, we are enabled to obey His first and greatest commandment to “Love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength”, along with the second commandment to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Neville’s words to me simply yet powerfully meant—don’t just get to know about him but get to KNOW HIM fully! In that place, you will not only know what Love is but you will become Love. No longer just in knowledge but in reality.

When we get to know the Lord in His entirety we see his beauty, his kindness, his majesty, and we can not help but in that moment love Him with our entire being! When we begin to “know” the thoughts and purposes in His heart we are then compelled to line up with those plans and become Harvesters for the Kingdom. Toward the end of the dream Neville and his daughter and grandchild walked through the brightly lit doorway that was to the right of where I was standing.

I’m not clear on all of the interpretation but here is the just of what I feel some of the interpretation might be.

I believe the first part where the young people were getting ready for the outreach symbolizes preparation for the harvest to come. And it’s coming soon! But getting to know God and His purposes are a big part of the harvest. The young guy who was trying to impress Neville with knowledge of scripture, I think represents our generation. We give the impression that we know it all, but deep down we are hungry for understanding and wisdom. Neville, I believe represented leadership, whose responsibility is to lead and encourage us to go after the Lord with our entirety, and challenge us to really KNOW HIM and line up with his will. The grandchild represented the seed that many saints have sown throughout history.

I pray that all of us are encouraged to go after HIM with everything that is within us. By accepting the invitation into this special relationship, The Lord will empower us during the harvest season.

An Eyewitness Account of the Miraculous

In 2006 I preached at Word Alive church with Pastor Kent Mattox outside Birmingham, AL. During the service I mentioned the wonderful heritage introduced to this generation through the Latter Rain revival by such men as William Branham and A. A. Allen. I shared some of the miracle testimonies that I knew from memory. Little did I know that present in the service was a precious woman, now in her 80s, who attended those services and saw with her own eyes the Lord perform fantastic miracles. Her name is Louneil (Mamma) Horne

Following the service, Mamma Horne came up to me and stated that I was sharing wonderful stories but she saw them firsthand. She attended numerous healing meetings with Bro. Branham, A. A. Allen and others. She told me about the evening she saw the Lord perform 26 creative miracles on one desperate little boy in March 1959. I have written about this testimony in my book “Angels that Gather.” It has been a wonderful pleasure getting to know Mamma Horne and receive from her pictures, booklets, ministry magazines and other wonderful memorabilia from the meetings in the 1950s.

Mamma Horne was also healed through the ministry of A A. Allen. The following is her testimony as she presented it to me… Paul Keith Davis

God Delivered me from Iron Clamps
By Louneil (Mamma) Horne

I first heard of A. A. Allen in the late ’50s. We had a little radio by our bed and we started picking him up on that strong station in Texas. We would listen to his broadcast every night to hear portions of his live services.

During this time my baby girl was born. And as sometimes happens, I almost had a nervous breakdown. I was on the edge of losing my mind. Being a Baptist, I had no one to turn to and I didn’t know what to do. Then one night while we were listening to Bro. Allen’s broadcast, I was sitting in a chair bouncing my baby on my knees to get her to sleep. Suddenly the power of God came over me; it felt like iron bands began to unclamp at the top of my head and I felt each one all the way to my feet. I was delivered instantly and it has never returned.

Not long after that Bro. Allen came to the Fairgrounds Auditorium in Birmingham, AL. We had the opportunity to go. When David Davis started that white Hammond organ that was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life. There is nothing more beautiful this side of Heaven. On that night the baby with 26 major illnesses was healed. Also, a little boy from Russellville, AL was there in a brace that started at his neck and went to his ankles. Brother Allen prayed for him then sent men to his truck to get pliers and screwdrivers to remove the brace. Needless to say the little boy was healed and ran all over that auditorium. The child had polio and his parents would not bring him to the meetings. A compassionate neighbor brought him to the meeting for healing.

Later, Bro. Allen had his big gospel tent in Atlanta, GA and on that Sunday afternoon a man was brought in on a stretcher with cancer. His stomach was so swollen that his pants lacked about eight inches meeting. Immediately when the man of God prayed for him, his stomach went down to normal and Bro. Allen pulled the man’s pants together.

This is the eyewitness testimony of Louneil Horne of Anniston, AL.
