Meet Katiana, a beautiful 11 year old Haitian girl with a destiny and purpose for God’s Kingdom. She has a beautiful smile and a kind heart. During our last trip to Haiti, a situation was brought to our attention that Katiana was born with an abnormality in her female organs. The women on the base knew that something was terribly wrong, but did understand the problem’s origin or its solution. They took Katiana to the doctor, and he recommended surgery, but the situation was never fully explained as to why the surgery was necessary.
This past trip Lauri Lindsey, who is a registered nurse, was able to recognize the problem and diagnose it immediately and that surgery was needed. There is a lesion or tear in her abdomen allowing bowel secretions to pass with her urine causing chronic infection that will only worsen with time. The WhiteDove Missionary team wanted to see to it that she had the surgery by paying for it and providing post-op care. We have spoken with the orphanage foundation overseer and he has consented. They have also agreed to allow Lauri to participate in the surgery and then release Katiana into her care for the week. Lauri will be tending to her every need making sure that everything heals properly.
We have decided to take a small team back October 23-29, 2012 for our fourth trip so that this procedure can be performed for Katiana. We want her to continue on her journey with the Lord without any more complications or delays. Luke 8:48 declares,” And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
While we are there, we plan on really focusing on their spiritual needs as well as their physical needs. We will be taking supplies such as clothes, shoes, school supplies, undergarments, hygiene products, and Bibles; along with journals to inspire them to begin writing their dreams, prayers, desires, and things that interest them. We hope to really awaken the seed that God placed within them and reveal to them their gifts and callings. Whether it be singing songs, writing, creativity, or whatever it is that they enjoy doing, we hope to bring inspiration back into them and to show them how valuable and beautiful they are.
We are going to separate the age groups and really focus on each one, illuminating to them who they are in Christ. Galatians 3:26-29 states “For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ. There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus. And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.”
As most of you know Hurricane Isaac was one that killed and injured many as well as destroying countless homes in Haiti. Because of God’s grace, none of the children at our compound where harmed. The only damage that was done to our compound was that the girl’s gate and wall that guards their home was blown away, as well as their banana trees which supply a large amount of their food. We plan to help in rebuilding this in any way possible.
Most importantly, we plan to go and love on them more than ever. We are all so excited to be back with them, seeing their smiling faces. There has been a great relationship that has developed between us all; they have truly become our family. We are pleased that a strong foundation has been built relationally and that we can continue focusing on the things of the future. It is our desire to know that what the Lord has awakened in them will continue to grow even while we are not there. We know the Lord has a purpose for Haiti and that there will be a mass revival in that land. Why not start with these kids! It is our hope that the brightness of God will begin to shine through them, and that people will be drawn to them because of what they carry – Christ. Isaiah 60:5 declares, “Then you shall see and be radiant, and your heart shall thrill and tremble with joy [at the glorious deliverance] and be enlarged; because the abundant wealth of the [Dead] Sea shall be turned to you, unto you shall the nations come with their treasures.”
The Haiti Missions crew and WhiteDove staff want to thank each one of you for taking the time to read this. Your support, prayers, and time have made this possible. When we go to Haiti, we carry each one of your prayers with us. If you are led to help towards the mission trip you can go to our website at www.whitedoveministries.org for more information. Some of the things that we are seeking prayer for are : 1) Protection over each one of us as we travel and while we are there 2) Perfect health over the team and kids of the Dezman Fleury Foundation 3) Protection for Katiana as she goes through her surgery, that there would be no complications, no fear, and perfect healing 4) That the Angels of the Lord would be with the doctors and Lauri during the surgery, that the Lord would give them wisdom on the things to do 5) And that God’s every purpose and plan would be fulfilled in us all!
Thank you again for your support and prayers!
